Dr. Maria Vlachou

Dr. Vlachou graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki-Greece. She was trained in General Orthopedics in Uk and Greece and she completed her General Orthopedic specialization from the Medical School of Kapodistrian University of Athens-Greece (2005) and the Swedish Board in Orthopedics-Stockholm-Sweden (2013). Dr. Vlachou furthered her sub-specialization by completing a 2-year Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at Shriners Hospitals for Children, Portland-Oregon-USA (2008) and also from Nuffield Center of Oxford-UK (2006). She has also completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics in Austria, sponsored by the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS) (2014). She was also awarded a Traveling Foot and Ankle Fellowship from the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS), which underwent 3 countries (France, Spain, and The Netherlands) (2006).

Dr. Vlachou has a broad interest which led her to obtain a Master's Degree in Metabolic Bone Diseases from Kapodistrian University of Athens (2012) and a Ph.D. in Cavus foot deformity in Children and Adolescents from Medical School of Ioannina University-Greece (2009). She has worked as a Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon in the UK, USA, Sweden, Greece, and KSA with exposure to the whole broad spectrum of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery spanning over 20 years. Dr. Vlachou's special interest includes diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular deformities, congenital anomalies, complex foot, and ankle deformities, metabolic diseases, DDH, and spine deformities. She has published research in 26 PubMed Indexed journals and has participated as a speaker in more than 100 Congresses and Meetings.
