Dr. Mariam Hadi Syeda

Dr. Mariam Syeda is a medical speech-language pathologist with over 15 years of experience. Dr. Syeda is certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Syeda completed her medical training from Dow Medical College. She received her Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Northeastern University, Boston; where she received her training at the Boston Medical Center, Somerville and Cambridge Hospitals, Boston.

Prior to working at AHD, she was working at the ENT department, Aga Khan University Karachi as a consultant speech pathologist. Furthermore, Dr. Syeda is a founding member of Pakistan’s first four-year degree program in Speech-Language Pathology- Ziauddin College of Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences, where she served as Assistant professor from 2007-2014. From 2005-2007 she headed the Neuro-rehabilitation Unit at Liaquat National Hospital.

Dr. Syeda enjoys working with patients of all ages and various disorders of communication and swallow, however, has a special interest in voice and swallowing disorders. Her training includes, but is not limited to, videofluoroscopic swallow studies, neuromuscular electrical stimulation for swallowing, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, and laryngoscopic/stroboscopic evaluation of voice. She has taught various courses and conducted workshops on voice and dysphagia management and has been a keynote speaker at national and international conferences.
