Dr. Murali Subramaniam

Dr.Murali Subramaniam brings with him nearly three decades of surgical experience. He was formerly a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with the National Health Service (NHS) and BMI hospitals in the United Kingdom.

He relocated to UAE in 2021 and has been working with prominent hospital groups prior to taking up this position as consultant vascular surgeon at King’s College Hospital London, Dubai.

Dr.Subramaniam was awarded the clinical excellence award during his stint in the NHS and has been actively involved in research, audits and multiple quality improvement projects. He was instrumental in setting up an award winning, multi-disciplinary diabetic foot clinic which was credited with significant reduction in major amputations. He also introduced a novel minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins and played a major role in setting up a dedicated day surgery centre for Varicose Vein surgery.

Dr.Murali Subramaniam holds a US patent for a surgical device which he has designed and taken to market. He has a keen interest in the history of medicine and surgery, especially originating from the sub-continent and has presented at several forums. Passionate about teaching, he has been a surgical module lead for students from the University of Nottingham in the UK. He was also a surgical tutor at the Royal college of surgeons Edinburgh, Scotland for several years.

Dr Murali Subramaniam qualified from Madras Medical College, India. He completed his basic surgical training from the University of West Indies and was awarded FRCS from Edinburgh, UK. His work as a research fellow at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow was on stem cells which was nominated for the prestigious Medawar medal by the British Transplantation Society. Dr.Subramaniam continued higher surgical training in Scotland which culminated in the intercollegiate FRCS in General and Vascular surgery. He further completed an Endovascular Fellowship at the University College Hospital Galway, Ireland.

He was awarded CCT (certificate of completion of training) by the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2010.
