Qualifications
Dr. Riyad received his medical degree from Faculty of Medicine, Al-Arab Medical University, Benghazi, Libya and went to complete his masters degree. Between Sep. 1999 – Jan. 2004, he completed his Ph.D (Doctorate) Dept. of Oncology &Radiotherapy, Turku University Hospital, University of Turku, Finland, focusing on Prognostic and Predictive Markers in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer.

He lately completed his Fellowship from Royal College of Physician. (FRCP-UK).

Experience
Dr. Riyad has been a practicing medical oncologist in UAE since 2013 onwards. Previous clinical placements include the consultant of Medical Oncology at the Medical Oncology unit, Department of Medicine, Benghazi Medical Centre, Benghazi, Libya and Medical Oncology specialist at Department of Oncology & Radiotherapy, Turku University Hospital, Turku, Finland, where he initially started as Oncology Resident.

In 2013, he was appointed as Clinical Associate professor in the Department of Clinical Science, College of medicine, University of Sharjah, UAE. Additionally he also associated with Docent (Associate Professor of Medical oncology) Dept. of Oncology & Radiotherapy, Turku University Hospital, University of Turku, Finland.

He is an active member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), a member European Society of Digestive Oncology (ESDO), an active member of the European School of Oncology (ESO), member of Finnish Medical Society (Duodecim) and a member of the European Association of Cancer Research(EACR).

Beside his academic involvement in teaching, he is also in the editorial board of various international peer review journals including:
WORLD JOURNAL OF GASTROENTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY. (WJGE), WORLD JOURNAL OF GASTROENTEROLOGY. (WJG), BMC (BIO MED CENTRAL) CANCER JOURNAL, WORLD JOURNAL OF GASTROINTESTINAL ONCOLOGY. (WJGO), DISEASE MARKERS, JOURNAL OF BIOMARKERS, SUPPORTIVE AND PALLIATIVE CANCER CARE JOURNAL (SPCC) and NEW JOURNAL OF SCIENCE, LIBYAN JOURNAL OF MEDICINE.
Dr. Riyad has published his work in international oncology and cancer journals and presented his experience in several local and international conferences. Has more than 50 scientific paper published in a peer reviewed journals.
