Suzanne Salihi

Dr. Salihi graduated from the Vienna Medical School in Austria in 1991. She trained as a doctor in Vienna, Glasgow and London. She has worked in major teaching hospitals, including Vienna’s biggest university hospital ‘‘AKH’’, Queen Mothers Hospital, Rottenrow Hospital in Glasgow and the Royal Free Hospital in London. Dr. Salihi’s special interests in obstetrics are feto-maternal medicine, early pregnancy and recurrent miscarriages. Dr. Salihi holds a Diploma in Advanced Obstetric and Gynaecological Ultrasound (RCR/RCOG) and spent 4 years at the Royal Free Hospital in London working in this field. She provides a full range of obstetric scanning and prenatal screening including nuchal translucency, CVS, amniocentesis, anomaly scans, cervical length measurements and Doppler examinations. Gynaecologically, Dr. Salihi is a lead Colposcopist with Diploma in BSCCP/RCOG, London. She has special knowledge in abnormal smears, HPV and colposcopy & vulvoscopy examinations. Her MD was specifically dedicated to research work in cervical cancer and later research work involved “Early detection measures for ovarian cancer” at the prominent University of Vienna. Furthermore, Dr. Salihi performs all kind of Gynaecological ultrasound scan examinations and Gynaecological surgeries. Dr Salihi’s experience also covers a wide range of Gynaecology: polycystic ovary syndrome, fibroids, infertility, endometriosis, menopause & HRT, contraception, reproductive and sexual health issues and she holds a Diploma in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care (DFFP/ Glasgow). She also provides cancer prevention care and women well care package. She has published and contributed to a wide range of specialist publications and one of her major projects was to research a screening tool for ovarian cancer at the Medical School of the University of Vienna. Prior to her specialist career in obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr. Salihi completed her training in family medicine and has worked as a GP in Vienna and periodically in the UK, supporting acute cover for the “out of hours” service in the NHS. This proved to be very beneficial in prioritising her patients and the kind of care she provides. Dr. Salihi’s patients travel long distances to come and see her, such as from Kenya, Tanzania, Algeria, Afghanistan, Nigeria to name a few. Dr. Salihi considers her profession a privilege and greatly welcomes her patients taking an active part in their management.
